I am 54 years old and I live in a suburb of
Los Angeles. I am an accountant by profession and photography is just a
hobby. The only class I ever took was a U.C.L.A extension class in (get this) super 8mm movies. And that was 30 years
ago. My movie camera at the time didn't even have sound and I used to make tape
recordings to play when I showed friends my movies. But this produced an
interest in still photography. I bought my first and only 35mm (A Canon AE1) and
had no idea what to do with it. I bought some books and figured it all out on my
own. To this day, my technical knowledge is still very limited but I manage to
get some great shots now and again.
After purchasing my 35mm and a gazillion lenses and filters ( and a stereo
camera from the fifties) I set out on a picture taking rampage. My husband likes
camping so it worked out perfectly for my picture taking obsession. But adding a
little touch of arthritis to my aging made my heavy camera and accessories too
cumbersome. I then purchased a scanner and began having fun with my pictures
playing around in software which took me to the digital market. I bought my
Olympus D400Z (which I am still using today) just a little over a year ago. What
a great joy! No more disappointments from the lab. My little Oly and my HP
Photosmart printer can produce really excellent 8 ½ x 11 pictures! And finally,
creative control! I love my little Oly but I dream of getting more creative so I
am ready to upgrade to a camera with closer macro and manual controls.
Here are some examples of my work. Thanks for viewing!
