After having my
son in 1999, I retired from being a million dollar producing real estate agent
and became a full-time stay-at-home mom. While never boring, I still needed a
creative outlet. When my twin sister started digital photography in 2001, I
decided to give it a try. My sister, Angie, taught me the basics of photography.
Now we teach each other technique and editing and are each other's toughest
critic. Our favorite thing is to take a break from motherhood and go on photo
outings whenever we visit each other.
To me, people as
the subject in a photo are the most interesting out there. Here are three
"posed" shots of my son, sister and husband. However, I prefer a good candid any
day to view or shoot.
Ahhhh, my still
lifes... being in total control with the creativity of your subject, your
lighting, and they don't move, you just can't beat it! My still lifes are where
I have gotten to "know" my camera and what it is capable of. The flask below is
silver and the kitchen counter was gray, but with my lighting and white balance
I got this brilliant gold throughout. The tea cups and saucers are actually
balancing on each other, scary shot to set up with toddlers running around! The
nuts and bolts were recently published in a company brochure of a museum
designing firm out of Washinton D.C.
Black and white
is my favorite medium. It has a timeless quality and an artful feel to it. When
I "see" most of my shots I "see" them in black and white.
Nature and the
art of "timing". From early morning reflections and fog to an afternoon storm,
these are three shots where timing was everything. The praying hands were added
digitally to create "The Power Of..." August 2001 photo of the month here at

Over the last
year I have gotten to know, was inspired and helped by some great photographers.
I want to thank you all and you know who you are! Along with that thanks, I
would like to thank Chuck, Bob, and Rex for this gallery and their continued
support of my work. BestFoto was the first site to recognize my work for a
picture of the day and to this day I am excited just as much when I win, maybe
even more because the participants have increased and the photos are even more
amazing! To see more of my photos, visit my
